What is Secured by Design?
Secured by Design (SBD) is the official police security initiative owned by the UK Police Service. Its purpose is to reduce crime and improve safety for businesses and communities through the use of products and systems that meet rigorous Police Preferred Specification standards.
SBD is the only scheme that provides official police recognition for security-related products in the UK. It works closely with manufacturers, standards bodies, local authorities, housing associations, developers and government departments (including the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government) to ensure security standards remain current and effective against evolving crime threats.
